Are algorithms the temp agencies of the future?

Technology has transformed the temporary employment sector. Online platforms like Uber and Deliveroo have helped to make recruitment and selection faster and cheaper. Will traditional temp agencies survive the revolution?

Executive summary

Recruitment and selection of workers is still often done by people. But as technology develops, the process will become more automated, making it cheaper and easier to recruit new workers.

Ultimately a work platform may even determine the 'right' remuneration (for example through an auction or dynamic prices).  

In this report, we examine the development of these platforms and the threat they pose to the traditional temp agency.
